Perhaps this also marked the first time Anschutz provided the special allan equipped with what Anschutz described as "wavelike elbows" - seen in the image below which is taken from the 1980 Anschutz 1807 to 1813 - Small Bore Target Rifle manual. Tightening slotted screws to higher torque levels is fraught with increased risk of slippage and marring, something which is dramatically reduced with allan wrench tightened hex drive screws. I don't know if the 16xx rifles had the same slotted screws that their 14xx predecessors were equipped with, but it would appear that by the time the 18xx rifles appeared hex drive action screws were in use. Tim, perhaps the use of hex drive screws allowed for the specification of 5 Nm for the action screws.
